For lloxbuigli district the quota sent ou dor disposal was hi large -/- poppies and dUU shilling poppies. Thes being ail disposed oi iho sum of 1117 hs was raised as against 1110 for the previous year. For Millers Flat district hue small and TO large poppies were seal up and the residents oi the hull districts also responded well to the cause and practically every poppy was dis posed of. The proceeds of the poppies go to the Kelurued Soldiers Uueiuployn enl Fund and the thanks od all the returned men are due; to the public for the splendid response they made to the sellers, and also to the willing baud of helpers who gave their services in canvassing tile district in their eli'orts lu dispose od the poppies. The result oi the Foppy Bay appeal in Lawrence- must be very gratifying to those participating in the organisation and work involved. Ihe ladies stall was well patronised throughout tiie day and dildieuily was frequently experienced in meeting demands. As a result od the ladies - special effort the sum of TIT os was raised, dhis does not include their proportion od the poppy sale's, the Gin Guides dui very ettieieut service and travelled fur and near, with very evident enthusiasm. iiie sale of poppies and badges totalled Tl7 10s. this is much in excess od uis; year. The Foppy Bay appeal in Dunedin on Friday last resulted in a total co - lt ctiou of Tbdd lbs. At Fort Chalmers the campaign tea lisd T-d 17s. Balelutha’s appeal met with a good response, the collections realising with , in a few shillings of the amount codec ted last year, viz.. £3l.
