LABOUR'S LATEST PROPOSAL.
London, April 7.
A joint Labour conference detarmin. Ed to send a deputation to Mr Asquith and Mr Harcourt (Colonial Secretary) to urge the repeal of the banishment of the deported Labour men from South Africa. They also appointed Mr Ramsay McDonald, M/P., and Mr Soddon, M.P., personally to memorialise Mr Botha. A resolution was carried to establish a deported's defence fund.
A delegate announced that writs had been issued against the owners of the steamer Ungc-ni.
THE NEW PEACE PRESERVATION BILL.
Capetown, April 7. The new Bill follows the lines of the abandoned measure, but omits the special provisions for the preservation of the public safety Jm. ..times .of emergency, and provides the penalty of deportation for high, treason, sedition, violence, and excitement thereto.
