Bowling Notes

Several more competition matches wore played during the week-end. A start was made with the junior singles. Anscombe beat Callender 22 to 11, Burr defeated nowat 20 to IS, while Blewctt 22 was tdb good for Hutcheon 3. In the senior singles R. Davey showed glimpses of his former prowess to defeat G. Hodd 21 to 19. In the handicap pairs, Bowden and Miles 27 contined on their winning way by defeating a strong pair in Mills and Blewett 20. Burr and Kemp 27 beat Swanney and Campbell 16. In the senior pairs Bowden and Feasey played far better than Siddells and Bentley and won easily by 26 to 8. The star game of the day was that between Harris and Robertson, and Bowden and Feasey, who were regarded as the strongest combination. When eight heads had been played Harris and Robertson led by 8 to 3, but did not manage to score again for another six heads. On the 16th head Bowden and Feasey took the lead with a nice 3 and lay 15 to 12. Robertson and Harris set to work in the 17th head to make up the leeway and, both bowling well, scored a meritorious -1, wrestling the lead once more with the score 16 —15. Another 1 to Harris on the next head and a 3 on the 19Ji head saw Harris and Robertson in a strong position, the score reading 20 to 15. On the 20th head Bowden lay one but wanted a trail to the rear for 3. He drove, but kitty went dead. In the reply, Bowden again lay the shot, but Harris trailed the jack for a neat 3. Bowden drove but failed to alter the head, leaving Harris and Robertson the winners by 24 to 15, Harris having drawn another with his last bowl. Both Robertson and Harris drew well, and played a great game against more experienced players. As stated before, Robertson is a very much improved player, and he will be found a power to reckon with in tho Pahiatua Club. Feasey was not playing as well as he

, played in the earlier match with &idt della, but he was up against stronger r opposition. Both Harris and Bowden i played well. The green is in very good order at present, and it is hoped i that the interest in the club competi--1 tions will continue. Next Saturday the Pahiatua Club is sending a team to s, Dannevirke. Another goes to Palmers 1 ton North to represent the Manawatu o Centre against the Wairarapa Centre i. while another plays Eketahuna on tho a Pahiatua green.
