Princess Elizabeth Acts as Sponsor
LONDON. Princess Elizabeth became godmother to a child whose father has acted as a “ godfather” to the Royal Family during the war. The baby, christened Guy Rupert Gerrard, is the iirst son of Lord and Lady Rupert Nevill, who were married last year. The ceremony was at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Eridge, Kent, and it was the first occasion on which the Princess had sponsored a Child. Lord Nevill, a lieutenant in the Life Guards, was one of the officers in charge of the bullet and splinter-proof Car which followed the Royal Family on many wartime tours. He is a son of the fourth Marquis of Abergavenny and is 22. He and his wife, formerly Lady Camilla Wallop, a daughter of the Earl of Portsmouth, are personal friends of the Princess. Princess Elizabeth drove over from Windsor Castle for the ceremony.
