Kairanga County Council

The Kairanga County Council met yesterday with Mr. W. R. Hopcroft presiding. Other members present were Crs. P. V. Koehler, M. G. Hansen, J. H. Hiilas, F. J. Russell, N. P. Nielsen and O. A. Collis.

Several replies were to hand from local bodies of the No. 9 Highways Dis trict as to their representation at the September conference. Their representatives had already been decided. The chairman reported on his attendance, with the clerk, at the New Zealand Counties’ conference. He stated that there was a large assembly. The whole of New Zealand had been divided ed into 15 wards, each ward to elect its own representatives. The representative for Kairanga was Cr. G. A. Monk. Cr. P. Y. Koehler was elected as the council’s representative at the next meeting of the Manawatu Regional Planning Committee. A letter was received from Messrs B. J. O’Dea, R. J. Ross and W. T. •Jones, stating that the drainage of water from Roberts Lino which flowed through their properties, had been blocked through the action of the L’.N.C.C. or its employees. was, or had been, for some time a slab placed at the inlet of the pipe drain commencing a* the gasworks. The pipe drain itself could not take much water, being three parts full of oily tar and refuse. Cr. Koehler suggested that representatives from the P.N.C.C. should meet representatives of this council and the ratepayers in respect to the gasworks drain.—Carried.
