Manawatu Heads
The de-licensing of the fishing industry should be of benefit to all. The Beach certainly cannot be worse off for fish than it is now. Whitebait has been unprocurable locally, yet a visitor to Wellington roports that notices of “Foxton Whitebait for Bale,” placarded the capital city. We also hear that New Zealand rabbits are being sent to Australia, yet not one was available in Foxton or in Palmerston North recent\y. Mrs. Lockman and her young son, from Wellington, who have been visiting Mrs. Lockman’s sister, Mrs. Jury, in Foxton, are staying at the Beach for a time. Miss Ngaire Dear is having a week’s holiday. Mrs. Stockhouse has returned from a visit to her daughter, Mrs. McNae, of Kiwitea. Miss Littlo from Wellington, lias been staying with her sister, the District Nurse. Miss Clara Gates, of Oroua Downs, ij visiting her parents in Barber Street. Mr. and Mrs. H. Robinson are to live in Foxton in future. Mrs. Kilgour is away visiting rela tions. Mrs. Lash has her grandchildren with her on a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Rees and family are here from Palmerston North for a few days. Mr. O. Coles is back at work after a
fortnight’s illness. There were 20 players at the euchre party run by the local branch of the Labour Party. Mrs. Downing gave the supper. The ladies’ first prize was won by Mrs. Andresen, Mrs. H. Hartley winning the second prize. Mr. T. Sands won the men’s first prize and Mrs. Wilson Ihe second. Consolation prizes were presented to Mrs. Gay.*and Mrs. Jay,
