June Wedding Celebrated At St. Andrew’s Church

DOEN—PETERSEN A pretty wedding took place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Palmerston North, on Tuesday, June 26, when Valerie Joyce, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Petersen, Palmerston North, was married to Albert John, third son of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Dome, Lochlea, Kairanga. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. Hubbard, M.A., B.D. The church had been decorated with pale pink proteas. The bride, on entering the church escorted by her father, made a pretty picture in her bridal gown of tea rose Georgian faille, the slim fitting long waisted. oodiee having a square neckline and elbow-length sleeves trimmed with ice-blue ruched velvet whilst the bouffant skirt which fell in soft folds to form a train had true-lovers-knots of ice-blue ruched velvet linked together. She wore long white kid gloves and a small cream tinted feather toque with uncut tulle forming a waist length veil. Her sheath was of cream hotnouse chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. The bride was attended by her sister, Gwenda (chief bridesmaid), and her cousin, Loretta Cordell, of Dannevirke. They both wore frocks of tea rose Georgian faille cut on similar linos to that of the bride, their bouffant skirts being hand appliqued with ice-blue velvet flowers. They wore long white kid gloves and blue feathers finished with diamante buckles adorned their hair. They carried sheaths of deep cream freesias and chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Mr. Gordon Tapp attended the bridegroom as best man while Mr. Horace Dorn (brother of the bridegroom) acted as groomsman. Mr. Guy Bee and Mr. Don Dorn acted as ushers. As the bride left the church she was presented with a horeshoe by her couWendy Petersen. A reception was . at the Rosco tearooms where over IjO guests were received by Mr. and Mrs. Petersen assisted by Mr. and Mrs. Dorn. The bride’s mother wore a model frock of Indian-penny brown, the threequarter length sleeves being embroidered in gold thread and red and green bone beads. She wore brown accessories and fur coat with shoulder spray m autumn tonings. The bridegroom’s mother wore a black model frock, black boucle coat and black accessories, her shoulder spray being in cyclamen tunings. The Rev. Hubbard was toastmaster and after the usual toasts were honoured the bride cut the beautiful three-tiered cake which was made and presented by Mrs. C. E. Bee, Kairanga. At the reception Mr. A. Kennedy rendered several vocal items which were much appreciated by the guests. Numerous congratulatory telegrams and several cablegrams (including one from the bridegroom’s grandmother in Austra-

lia) were read by the best man. After the reception the guests adjourned to the home of the bride’s parents to view the many beautiful presents. Later the hjxpply couple left for a tour of the North Island, the bride travelling in a cactus-blue wool georgette pin-tucked suit with felt hat to tone and brown accessories. Prior to her marriage, the brido was honoured at gift parties given by Mrs. C. E. Bee, Kairanga, Mrs. W. A. Kyle and Mrs. Peter Jones, Feiiding, Mrs. W. T. Royal and Miss V. Royal and Mrs. G. C. Petersen, Palmerston North. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Dorn have now taken up their residence at Motuiti, Foxton,
