Additional Petrol Ration Probable

MINISTER OF SUPPLY IN HOPEFUL MOOD. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 26. “Every endeavour is being made to obtain additional supplies of petrol so that the restrictions may be relaxed at the earliest possible date,” said the Minister of Supply (Hon. D. G. Sullivan) to-day. “The Government is fully aware of the importance of petrol to private motorists and to the public generally. “Within the next week or so I hope to be able to make a statement on the future petrol position and am hopeful as a result of negotiations now nearing finality that the present restrictions will be appreciably relieved and additional allowances will be possible for private motoring.”
