MANAWATU COMPETITIONS FESTIVAL The grand demonstration concerts in the Opera House, Palmerston North, this afternoon and evening will brmg to a conclusion the Manawatu Competitions Society’s 22nd annual festival j which has been proceeding throughout j the week. Exceptionally large entries ; and the high standard of performances liu practically all classes made the i festival a great success and public interest was reflected in the large attendances at most of the sessions. Commenting on the work of competitors in the piano classes, the judge (Miss T. Willoughby) said that the standard of work was hgih, particularly among the younger competitors and in the duets. It, was pleasing to see so K man}' entries from the boys. Miss Willoughby said that in the lullaby class in the singing section the boys had given very lino performances. The action songs, too, had been well done. The costuming and general stage deportment of the children were splendid, the standard being high even among the younger children.
