SIX WINS FOR MANAWATU Tension is rapidly drawing to a climax in the New Zealand Women's Interprovincial Baseball championships being played at the Sportsground, Palmerston North. So far Manawatu has six wins to its credit. The fiuals will be played to-day. The results of yesterday's games were:— Senior: Manawatu 5 v. Wellington 4, Canterbury 22 v. South Auckland 7, Auckland 7 v. South Canterbury &, Wanganui 6 v. Otago 1, Canterbury 11 v. Auckland 0, Wellington 5 v. Wanganui 0, South Auckland 4 v. Otago 2, Manawatu 12 v. South Canterbury 4, Auckland 4 v. Wanganui 3, Wellington 12 v. South Auckland 7. Junior: Wanganui 9 v. Auckland 8, Manawatu 17 v. Wanganui 3. The play for to-day is as follows: Senior, Wellington v. South Canterbury, Otago v. Canterbury, Wanganui v. South Auckland, Manawatu v. Auckland; junior, Auckland v. Mauavvatu, Wanganui v. Manawatu. UMPIRES’ ASSOCIATION At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Women's Baseball Umpires' Association held on Wednesday night, Mr. D. O. Buck (Canterbury) presided. Nine associations were represented and a number of visitors was present. The secretary reported that since the last meeting, a number of new associations had been organised. Delegates reported that returned servicemen were taking a keen interest in the game and that quite a number had taken up umpiring. Tho election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr. D. O. Buck; vice-president, Mr. Newton Hood; secretary, Mr. A. Rennie; rules interpretation committee, Messrs. D. O. Buck, D. M. Ingles (Auckland) and M. Zemba, Jnr. (Wellington).
