Intermediate School Committee
At a mooting of the Palmerston North Intermediate School Committee last night, Rev. J. Hubbard presided in the absence of the chairman, Mr. W. H. Brown. A letter was received from the Wanganui Education Board advising the committee that the department had given the board a graut with’ which to enable it to proceed with the dental clinic at the school. At its meeting the board signed a contract, for the erection of the building, with Mr. M. Matthews who would commence almost immediately'. Mr. J. (J. Whibley', principal, stated that the school had opened with a full staff. Miss M. F. Feist had returned to the school, being appointed in place of Miss F. A. Stevens. The uumber of new admissions to the school to date was 320, tlutt number slightly exceeding the one at tho beginning of last year. All the gardens and shrubberies had been weeded and some dug over. Mr. Whibley stated that, in his opinion, some arrangements should be made to keep tho gardens in order during future Christmas holidays. During the holidays all the'door locks and defective windows had been inspected and adjusted. He regretted to state that no water supply had as yet been provided for the craft rooms. Tho school, he concluded, was left in good order by those who were in control of the summer camp stationed at the school during January'.
