PAKIHIKURA EWE PAIR Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on the annual ewe fair, held on Saturday last at Messrs Short and Sons’ yards, kindly lent for the occasion, when an offering of 3500 ewes, jilong with two pens of wethers, was suomitted to a large attendance of buyers from the surrounding districts. The ewes from the Pakihikura district are renowned for their breeding, size and constitution and this year’a offering was fully up to the high standard of recent years, lines coming forward in first-class order and condition. Competition was keen throughout the auction and we report a total clearance, realisations being the highest recorded so far this season. An outstanding entry of 120 4-year-old ewes offered on account of Mr. Norman J. Short, realised 40s which were purchased to go to the Auckland district. Messrs Short and Sons’ and Mr. Lionel Meads’ entries of 4-year-old ewes were also outstanding lines which realised 335. Several other pens of 4 and 5-year-old ewes Sold from 25s to 30s 9d. Approximately 820 2-tooth ewes were included in the offering which sold freely, prices being fully linn on values at the Feilding 2-tooth ewe fair, held the previous day. A particularly fine entry of 474 fat and forward wethers on account of Messrs Short and Sons, realised 32s 9d. The following are our main sales:— Account N. J. J. Complin, 200 2-th ewes at 35s Gd; account Mrs. B. 1. Lambert, 232 2-th ewes at 325; account E. E. Thomas, IGS 2-th ewes at 34s Gd, 78 4-th wethers ut 29s Gd; account H. J. Luoni, 79 2-th ewes at 29s 9d; account Mrs. B. England, 2-th ewes at 32s 7d; account M. W. Francis, 2-th ewes at 31s 3d; account H. H. Newcombe, 2-th ewes at 32s 7d, 4 and 5-year-old ewes at 23s 3d, 20s Id; account J. J. Thomaseu, 188 4-year-old ewes at 30s lOd, 139 5-vear-old ewes at 255; account 0. B.
