Colyton

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Colyton Younger Set w r as held recently, there being an excellent attendance of members. Mr. John Humphrey has elected to take the chair. The financial position of the organisation is very sound and another equally successful year is anticipated. Mr. Humphrey expressed regret at the resignation of Miss Scott from the position of secretary and conveyed to her the appreciation of the Younger Set for her untiring work in first organising a venture which had now established itself successfully. Thanks were also extended to Mr. S. Woodman and Mr. A. Burr for their work in connection with supper arrangements. The election of officers resulted:—Chairman, Mr. John Humphrey; secretary, Miss Sheila Shortall; committee, Misses M. Scott, N. Shortall, J. Mitchell and D. Bridgeman, Messrs G. Stone, A. Burr, N. Lind, M. Jensen, R. Wilson and P. Wigglesworth. The M’sC. for the year will be Peter Wigglesworth, Ron Wilson, Murray Jensen and Neville Lind, to act in pairs at alternate dances. Still another success is credited to the reputation of the Colyton Younger Set when a crowd filled the hall last Tuesday night for the second of the monthly dances for the new season. A waltzing competition was staged and this proved a highlight for dancing enthusiasts. Miss Isa McKenzie (Palmerston North) acted as adjudicator and the winning couple were Mr. and Mrs. Managli. The winners of the Lucky Gay Gordons were Miss Doris Laing and Mr. T. Manson and the Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Jean Redshawe and Mr. B. Galbraith. The M’sC. were Murray Jensen and Neville Lind.
