Good Pahiatua Fields ‘ E WOODVILLE THE GUIDE c ►SOME FRESH HORSES ( s (Special to “Times.”) I Very satisfactory fields have been \ secured for the Pahiatua meeting on ] Saturday. Most of the horses which showed form at the Woodville fixture ( last week will run again and there w ill ] be an interesting leavening of fresh j blood if the acceptors are able to reach ; the course. With a number of horses f the plan is to work down to Masterton ] for the meeting there on March 10 and from there to move over to Trentham ; for the racing a week later. ; The omission of Polario from the highweif.ht event at the Pahiatua fixture is not surprising as the Phaleron Bay gelding pulled up very badly after his race last week-end. G. W. New’s recent acquisition, Rampant, finished very solidly in the first division of the maiden last week and on that run will not be neglected if he contests the highweight this week. Rampant is a four-year-old gelding by Posterity from Impetuous and so a halfbrother to Rink. The field is not a strong one and there is sure to be good backing for Master Gary and Royal Pageant, second and fourth last week. Lady Nahleen has run several good races lately and there was merit in her second to Dileas last week. She should be hard to beat again this week when one of her principal opponents might be Dawn Flight, who finished fourth, and will meet her on 41b. better terms. When Specialist won the Sapling Stakes at Woodville he was almost the outsider of the field. If ho lines up for the two-year-old event on Saturday he will be at the other end of the betting and probably will;: be favourite. Specialist is a fine lump of a youngster by Broiefort from the Roscuor mare Cock-eye. He won well despite a lack of racing experience and it is reasonable to expect him to improve. Lowry Bay looked to be just a little unlucky in the Woodville Handicap and he is certain to be solidly backed on Saturday. Of the horses who raced last week Sovereign Lad and Broiveine are the only ones likely to trouble him. The fresh horses in the field include Queen’s Charm and Financial. Poutatau is so well that a 91b. rise in weight should not prevent him from running very prominently in the open sprint again this week. Salmi might improve, but Theiolyn should again be the hard one to dispose of. The fresh horses are Sir Bradbury, Killeymoon, Hasten, Donegal Bay, Parlato and Fox-brae. TE AROHA RACES ACCEPTANCE LIST Provision will have to be made for divisions in two races at the Te Aroha Jockey Club’s annual meeting, to be held at Te Aroha next Saturday.
