Garden Party of All Saints’ Mothers’ Union

Following the usual custom the first meeting of the year of All Saints’ Mothers’ Union took the form of a garden party held yesterday afternoon in the lovely grounds surrounding the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Bagnall, Te Awe Awe Street. The gardens were looking particularly attractive, large beds of zinnias, dahlias and roses providing splashes of bright colour against the more sombre tones of green. Afternoon tea was served by members of the committee under a large oak tree on the lawn. During the afternoon the president, Mrs. Ax, offered a warm welcome to all members and expressed the hope that the coming year would be one of happiness and profitable fellowship for all. Apologies were received from the new vicar, Rev. H. W. Monaghan, and Mrs. Monaghan, and Alesdames Metcalf, Pritchard and Dawick. Mrs. Ax reminded members that the annual meeting would be held on March 21 and asked for as full an attendance as possible. In concluding, she thanked Mrs. Bagnall for her kindness in offering the use of her garden for the annual party. To conclude the afternoon all those present participated in a treasure hunt in the garden.
