Unhappy Marriages

In the Palmerston North Supreme Court yesterday the Hon. Mr, Justice Cornish granted decrees nisi in the following divorce suits:— Michael Reiha, farmhand, of Auckland v. Ivy Kathleen Frances Reiha. The parties wevo married on February 5, 1941, and petitioner, on November 7, 1944, secured a restitution of conjugal rights order with which Mrs. Reiha had failed to comply. William Isherwood Fergus, carpenter, of Feilding, v. Edna Mavis Fergus. The marriage was on August 3, 1940. On his return from overseas on June 9, 1944, his wife did not -want to live with him again and she admitted misconduct. She had been employed by the American Red Cross in Auckland while he was away. Howard V. TunnicliiT, baker, of Palmerston JNorth, v. Mona Isabel Tunnicliff. They were married on July 18, 1930. Petitioner said his wife had left him in 1938 and 1940 with other men but he had taken her back for the sake of the children. When he came back from overseas in August, 1944, she was not at home and he subsequently discovered her at Riverliead, North Auckland, living under a different married name and wearing a different wedding ring. Violet Grace Biggar, of Palmerston North, v. Leo Bertram Biggar, farmer, of Ivauwhata. They were married on April 15, 1939. Misconduct was alleged. Alexander Schwarcz, radio engineer, of Palmerston North, v. Margaret Schwarcz, of Gisborne. They were married on June 18, 1940, and separated on April 8, 1941. Decrees absolute were made in the following divorce petitions:—Clarence Vivian John Bracken, mechanic, Awahuri v. Cecily June Bracken. Joyce Evelyn Terry, Levin, v. Wm. Samuel Harold Terry. Ina Daphne Donnell, Otaki, v. Henry Edward Donnell. Edward George G. Vogt, of Ohakea, was granted an order for restitution of conjugal rights in respect of Nancy May Vogt, of Rongotea, who had refused, according to petitioner, to live with him.

Mr. and Mrs. G. Watehorn and their daughters, Mr 3. Hewitt Billens and Miss M. Watehorn, Linton Street, left for Wellington yesterday and Miss Watehorn will proceed to Christchurch to enter upon her studies at Canterbury University College.
