Pahiatua Fire Brigade
During the week-end the Pahiatua Fire Brigade held its annual shield competition. The following officials were responsible for tne excellent manner in which thte competitions were conducted: Handicapper, Fireman J. Stokes; judges, Superintendent W. Lawry and Deputy E. L. Stokes; timekeepers, Firemen Fairweathcr, Jones and Gowler; call steward, Fireman Nation; starter, Mr. G. Hogg. The results were as follows:—Dry Union event, Fireman G. Jones (hdc. 2sec.) pen. 0, time 51 1-5 sec. 1, Foreman E. Collins, (hdc. 4sec.) pen. 0, time 51 3-ssec. 2, Fireman L. Miles (hdc. Bsec.) pen. 4, time 54sec. 3; three 30ft. lengths dry hose coupling event, Messenger G. Dolman (hdc. ssec.) pen. lsec., time 32 3-ssec. 1, Fireman A. Gowler (scr.) pen. lsec., time 35 3-ssec. 2, Driver G. Jones (hdc. lsec.) pen. lsec., time 36sec., 3; four 50ft, lengths dry hose coupling event, Messenger G. Dolman (hdc. 4sec.) pen. 0, time 33 2-ssec. 1, Foreman E. Collins (hdc. 3sec.) pen 0, time 34 2-ssec 2, Dvr. G. Jones (hdc. lsec.) pen. lsec., time 3osec. 3; points for Annual Shield, Messenger G. Dolman 6 points, Driver G. Jones 5 points, Foreman E. Collins 4 points.
