United Kingdom Export Position

An important development in British textile machine manufacture is reported by the Yorkshire Post. This is the merger between the Textile Machinery Makers Limited, one of the biggest cotton machinery makers in Britain, and Prince Smith and Stells Limited, an important wool machine firm employing 2,000 workers. The latter was one of the pioneers in its field and has been making textile machinery for 150 yeafr.s. Sir William Prince Smith, chairman of Prince Smith and Stells, has issued a statement pointing out the big advantages of tho merger. It will enable manufacturing processes, patent rights and research work to be pooled. Present technical trends, says Sir William, seem to be removing the dividing line between cotton and wool industries. Thus two organisations working as of unity can concentrate on the manufacture of standard types of machinery, greatly reducing production costs. Great benefits will also be attained on the sales side from this fusion of interests, he continues, and United Kingdom textile machinery industry as a whole’ will be in a much stronger position to meet foreign competition in overseas markets. TO AVOID WASTE. Save time and money with Baxters Lung Preserver, the jiroved most popular remedy for coughs and colds, sore throats, etc. “ Baxters” is pleasant to take and quick in action. Its benefits must be experienced to be believed. Prepared solely by Baxters, Ltd., 602 Colombo Street, Christchurch.
