Pohangina
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Wednesday, February 14, marked the date of the Raurnai Batchelar’s Dance. The batchelars deserve credit for the capable way in which they managed the supper. It is rumoured, however, that the decorated stage and trellis surrounding the stage were not all the work of a mere man. A professional dance band provided music for many young people from the surrounding districts. The M.C. was Air. Chas. Gavin. A highlight during the evening was a confetti One-step. The Lucky Gay Gordons was won by Aliss Dorothy Symes and Air. George Johnson. Aliss Nance AlcDonald and Mr. Justin Kerrigan were the winners of the Lucky Spot. The Alonto Carlo winners were Aliss Heather Stuart and Air. Brian Tews. ALrs. Sinclair has two friends from Island Bay staying with her, namely Aliss Northcotte and Aliss Burn. Airs. Ogden, of Alatamata, is on holiday with Airs. Galvin, Pohangina. Aliss Lynette Drummond has commenced teaching at Alount Richards School. Air. P. G. Warmington has returned to Wellington after staying with Air. and Airs. J. H. AlcDonald, Raurnai. Aliss Peggy Leamy, Raurnai, has left to attend College at Wellington. Friends of Aliss C. Baliner, Raurnai, will regret to know that she is in hospital. Mrs. Cameron and her daughter, Sister Al. Cameron, of the Whangarei Hospital, are staying with Air. and Airs. D. Spelman, Awaliou South. Friends of Aliss Betty Blixt, Awaliou North, will be sorry to know that she is ih hospital. Recently the home of Airs. R. Lewis, Pohangina, was full of cheery voices and, laughter. The occasion was when the young people gathered to bid farewell to a popular young friend, Aliss Lewis, who has left for Pongaroa, whqre she will be teaching for a year before attending Training College.
