Victory Loan Campaign In Feilding District
Subscriptions to the Victory Loan continue to come in in Feilding and district. This is “Salute the Navy” week and special posters relating to the Navy have been circulated for exhibition in shops. The magnificent part played by the Royal Navy in this war since the inception of hostilities is something everyone can feel proud about and the emphasis this week on the “silent” service must make a widespread appeal in this Victory Loan campaign. Country committees are active in expanding interest in the Loan and at Kimboliton, a public meeting elected the following committee: Mr. W. G. Clapham (chairman) and Messrs D. Watt. K. Murray, N. C. Jensen, A. H. Morgan (secretary) and Mesdames Bryant and Hallinan. It is intended to co-opt the services of the Women's Division and Women's Institutes. Recent subscriptions on the part of investors who have expressed a willingness that their names be published include:— £ C. K. Russell 700 W. G. Fry 500 J. M. Wralt 800 W. W. Russell 300 W. T. Crooke 100 Mr. C. A. Corder (postmaster), who is principally concerned in the campaign for National Savings, has completed some striking posters on show in the Post Office. Messrs W. Carthew and Son have arranged for a special window display, while a large canvas sign has been completed for erection overhead across the intersection of Manchester Street and Fergusson Street. The target barometer in Manchester Square was accorded attention by some unauthorised person over the week-end, who sought to boost Feilding’s investments by adjusting the arrow to a figure which has not yet been reached. The committee, however, hope that before long the barometer arrow will exceed the figure which it indicated yesterday.
