(From Our Own Correspondent.) A successful function was organised recently by the Catholic Ladies’ Guild in aid of their church building fund. There was a large number present and a sales table in charge of Mrs. Galpin,' senr., and the Misses Scheldt did good business. Cards were enjoyed and the winner was Mrs. G. Jepsen. A travel- i liflg parcel was won by Mrs. Stewart. Mrs. M. Jepsen was the winner of a lucky cup and Mrs. Weastell won the mystery parcel. The hall was a gay placo recently when the Tennis Club held their annual dance. Cards were enjoyed by the non-dancers, the winners being Mrs.' Robson and Mr. C. Stevens. Mr. R. 1 Sinclair acted as M.C. During the ebening trophies were presented by Mr. and Mrs. Leete, to the winners of the junior players, these being Miss J. Sinclair and Ray Stevens. The lucky Gay Gordons was won by Mrs. Hughes and Mr. J. Gould, while the Monte Carlo was won by Miss Robson and Mr. Godfrey. There was only a fair attendance at the card afternoon organised by the Ladies’ Hall Committee. Cards were won by Mrs. Armstrong and the competition by Mrs. Northcott. Mesdames Northcott and Armstrong acted as hostesses. Mr. and Mrs. Chadwick are spending a holiday in Wellington. Miss M. Abraham, who has been spending the holidays with her parents, 1 has returned to Christchurch. Mrs. M. Harris, who has been visiting Carterton, has returned home. Mr. K. Cameron is spending a holiday in Christchurch. Mrs. A. Harris, of Paraparaumu, who has been visiting Mr. and Mrs. C. Harris, bas returned home. Mr. and Mrs. W. Davies aro spending a holiday at Paremata. Miss Faulkner, who has been spending the holidays with her people, has returned to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. B. Williamson and family, who have been spending a holiday at Manawatu Heads, have returned home. Miss P. Galpin, who bas been spending a holiday in Wellington, has returned home. The Bunnythorpo Young Farmers’ Club held their monthly meeting recently. There was a good attendance of members presided over by Mr. J. Wood in the absence of the club chairman, Mr. Anderson, who was indisposed. Mr. Jacques, of Massey College, gave a talk ou tillage and also touched upon the problem of erosion in New Zealand.
