(From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr. and Airs. Armitage, of Auckland, are visiting their daughter, Airs. J. R. Osborne. Wrens Joan Aiassicks and Cecily Kerkin, of Auckland, are the guests of Airs. W. liogun. Airs. B. H. Smith, of Tiritea Valley, is staying with her parents, Air. and Mrs. H, R. Strahan. Airs. F. Massey presided'at the Aiarch •meeting of the Apiti branch of the W.D.F.LF. and welcomed three visitors Alesdames Jewett, Smith and Couper, who judged the afternoon competitions. Airs. J. It. Stewart was welcomed back and the president expressed the hope that she had quite recovered from her illness. Ten members attended the recent provincial meeting at Alassey College. Mrs. Al. liarlaud was accorded a vote of thanks for her interesting report. Alesdames AlcNicol and Roberts were thanked for providing transport. A donation of £2 14s 3d is to bo sent to the Rest Home and £3 was voted to Provincial Community Chest. Air. A. E. Lockett is to be asked to be auditor. The next meeting is the annual one and the president called for nominations for president and committee. Alesdames Pratt and •Schmidt will be hostesses, and a display of handwork will be arranged by High School girls. Following are the competition results: Vase of flowers, Airs. T. Nix 1, Airs. Alclutyre 2, Airs'. I-larland 3; best three blooms, Mrs. AlcIntyre 1 and 2, Airs. Nix 3; best aster, Airs. Alclntyre 1, Airs. Knight 2; best three asters, Airs. Alclntyre 3,2, 3. Tea hostesses were Alesdames Thompson and Shipton. St. Luke’s Anglican Guild held their March meeting at Airs. S. 11. White’s home last week. The anual meeting of Apiti Library subscribers was held on Friday evening when Air. W. AL Duncan presided over a small attendance. Thanks were expressed to Mr. G. Simpson for taking over as librarian secretary on his arrival in Apiti. There wero 33 subscribers last year and two new ones have recently joined. Air. L. A. Alartin was elected deputy librarian and the committee were re-elected. A vote of thanks was passed to Mesdames Duncan, C. C. Osborne and Aliss Osborne for choosing the books during the past •Six members of Apiti W.I. attended j the Kimbolton W.I. annual meeting and j had tho pleasure of joining in the welcome to Kimbolton’s former president, Airs. H. Barnicoat, Dominion president of New Zealand Women’s Institutes.
