Channel Guns and Planes Hammer French Coast

Received Wednesday, 10.50 p.m. LONDON, March 22. For the third successive night British guns opened up against enemy shipping in the Straits, firing in spurts approximately 100 rounds in 40 minutes. The enemy batteries replied from Cap Gris Nez and Calais. Liberators, escorted by Thunderbolts, which attacked targets in the Pas de Calais area yesterday, met no fighter opposition and all returned. Mustangs strafed enemy aerodromes and installations from the Pyrenees to the Paris area and destroyed 11 enemy planes in combat and nine on the ground. Seven of ours arc missing.
