Citizens Assist The Guides and Scouts
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Since the Girl Guido Association in New Zealand was given the job of collecting cleaning rags for the use of the three Forces wo have gathered 55 tons of rags on behalf of the National Council for the Reclamation of Waste Materials. This council haa sold the rags to the services and the sum realised is £2537, which lias been handed to the National Patriotic Fund Board to go towards the fund which provides comforts for our soldiers. Once again we have been asked to collect more rags, and the Palmcrsrton North Guides assisted by the Boy •Scouts hope to contact every home in Palmerston North on Saturday morning next. May we ask for full cooperation of .your readers in this work of national importance? We arc told that the supply could never meet the demand for cleaning rags, and that cotton, silk or woollen materials are all equally suitable. Householders would greatly assist the Guides and Scouts by putting their bundles—wrapped or unwrapped—by the gate on Saturday aud thus save the children endless door-knocking. Bundles too large for the Guides to handle will bo called for separately if the owner a please ring 6998.—1 am, etc., MARGARET MILLS. Pi visional Commissioner, Manawatu Girl Guides.
