Notes of the Day
The friends of Mr. E. H. Brewer, of Feilding will be pleased to learn that private advices report that he is making very satisfactory progress following an operation performed at a private hospital in Sydney. It is expected that Mr. Brewer will be back in Feilding early next month. The Feilding Patriotic Zone’s quota of parcels for soldiers has been stepped up consequent upon tho increasing number of servicemen serving overseas. Previously the quota was just over 1400 parcels each quarter but the latest demand fixes the quota at over 1600 for the next despatch of parcels early next year. The Feilding Patriotic Society is responsible for finding its share of the parcels and no doubt tho call upon citizens will be heavier for the next despatch. To-day the Girl Guides are conducting the patriotic shop for the benefit of the parcels and presentations fund and citizens are invited to accord this effort every help. Parcels coupons to the value of 10s each are available and these make for a practical donation assisting a very worthy cause.
