Patriotic Shop

The first three days of last week were taken by St. John Ambulance Nursing Division. Conveners wore Miss R. Duckworth (superintendent of the division) and Mrs. G. Cochrane. The members of the division are all busy people and are to be congratulated on the receipts of £36 6s 6d. The conveners wish to thank tho shop staff, all who contributed goods and the donors of spring flowers. Some very fine blooms were sent in from the Opiki horticulaural show. Goods for competitions were donated as follows:—lced cake, Miss R. Duckworth; Bet of lady’s underwear, Miss C. Lamerton. The Girls’ Music Club had the latter part of the week (convenors, Misses E. Rawlins and L. McDonald). Receipts were £SB IBs Bd, an increase of over £2O on their last effort. Total for the week was £95 5s 2d. A special feature was the large quantity of daffodils. A very fine lot came in from Ohakea, the P.N. Horticultural Society contributing show blooms. Mrs. A. E. Russell’s doll, * t Rose, ’ * which the C. M. Ross Coy. is running for the shop, contributed £l3, each organisation receiving £6 10s. The convenors convey thanks to the staff and all who so generously supported this effort. Cash donations are acknowledged:—Miss T. Clark ss, Mrs. H. Pierard ss, Miss Heape ss. Goods for competitions were donated as follows: Fireside chair, the Club; half dozen bakelite cups and saucers, the Club; perm Bnds, Rosco Beauty Salon; feltex handbag, Miss Francis. The League of Mothers acknowledge a further donation of 6s making their total £59 0s Id. The first three days of this week are taken by the Intermediate Home and School Association, the Girls’ High School Parents’ Association taking the latter part. Mrs. R. McMurray is visitor for the shop committee.
