Steel for Concrete Fencing Posts
AUCKLAND, Sept. 16. A relaxation of the restrictions on the use of steel in the manufacture of concrete fencing posts was announced by the Minister of Supply (Hon. D. G. Sullivan). The restrictions had been imposed under the Iron and Steel Control Order of 1942. “The position is that for some time past the use of reinforcing steel in the manufacture of concrete fencing posts has been entirely prohibited,” said the Minister. ‘ ‘ However, a quantity of rerolled steel has now been received in this country from the United States and an examination of the controls operating in that country reveals that the use of this type of steel is permitted in the manufacture of fencing posts for agricultural purposes. It has been arranged therefore that this type of reinforcing steel may now be used for similar purposes in the Dominion.”
