The Girls' High School Parents’ Association met on Wednesday. The meeting was preceded by half an hour of hymn singing by the school choir and the whole school. This performance was of a very high musical standard and keen appreciation was expressed by the parents to Miss E. E. Stephens (principal), Miss M. Dean and the school. At the business meeting, Mr. T. P. Hart (chairman) expressed pleasure at the larg-e number of parents present and thanked them for their encouragement. He hoped that still more would join the Association. Two Important events loomed ahead this year —the running of the patriotic shop by the committee from September 23 to 25 and, later in the year, the gala day. The committee needed all the help the parents could give for these two efforts. Mr. S. Nielson donated a sheep foz the shop and was warmly thanked. Mr. C. R. Luke presented a seat for the playground which was much appreciated. On a show of hands, it W’as decided to continue the policy of no raffles and no games of chance at the gala day, but to hold raffles at the shop for the patriotic fund.
