Kairanga County
A meeting of the Kairanga County o Council was held in Palmerston North 3 yesterday, the chairman, Mr. W. R. Hope croft ppresiding. 3 In his report on the Fitzherbert riding, the engineer, Mr. L. C. Pickering said a fair amount of damage during recent j Army manoeuvres with mechanised equipment, was in evidence such as the ' whipping off of metal chips, fractures of recent patches, and the tearing out of * recently place plant mix, especially on ' curves. The P.W.D. had been communlcated with over the matter. The trouble r was there was no ••differential” in a “tank” and when going around curves, one caterpillar track skidded. The financial statement disclosed a credit balance of £7788 13s Sd. Current year rates paid to date were:—Taonui t £4308 17s 3d, Mangaone £2530 0s 4d, - Fitzherbert £2279 11s lid, total £9IIS 9s 1 6d. At the same time last year payments b were £8582 0s 2d.
