German Barbarities in Poland
Received Tuesday, 8.30 p.m. LONDON, Mar. 9. The newspaper Nyadagligt Allehanda quotes Polish underground newspapers reporting the destruction of seven villages near Lublin on the Lidice pattern, says the Times’ Stockholm correspondent. Storm troopers after the discovery of anti-German activity arrived in lorries, set fire to all the houses and completed the destruction with grenades. They executed part of the population On the spot and transported the remainder, including aged persons, women and children to prison camps where they were treated as civilian war prisoners. The Germans last year correctively punished 700 villages by the execution of hostages. The Stockholm newspapers report that 65 Norwegian patriots were killed last week when a German bomber sank in Tromso Sund a coastal steamer which the patriots seized and were attempting to. take to Britain.
