Cabinet Finalising To-day
Ter Press Association. WELLINGTON, Mar. 9. Before the House adjourned to-night Mr. Eraser asked that the adjournment should be until 7.30 to-morrow night so that the Cabinet and War Cabinet might come to certain conclusions regarding manpower. The Address-in-reply debate could finish to-morrow night and Thursday Thorning, he suggested, would be a suitable time for members to meet in the social hall with the chief of staffs and have a free discussion on manpower. After that meeting the House could meet and discuss the question off the air. Mr. Eraser said the Press would be admitted to this discussion, but it would mean certain s\ipervision of what should appear, although that would apply only regarding details that would be of use to the enemy. “We are at a very important stage in our war effort, he said, “and want every member to feel he has had some share in the shaning of the future of the war effort and the allocation of manpower.*' Replying to a question by Mr. S. G. Holland as to when this part of the session would end, Mr. Fraser said he thought it could be finished by Friday night. There was the Commercial Gardens Registration Bill to be passed, also a small Bill providing for housing construction to come under Public Works, and the appointment of a Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner of Works and the change of name of the Minister of Public Works to the Minister of Works.
