Service Appeals

Two appeals by soldiers against overseas service were heard by the Armed Forces Appeal Board in I’aliuerston North on Friday, the decisions being:— W. T. H. Down, dismissed; H. G. O’Brien, alloAved. An appeal against Home Guard Service for J. G. Hannah, caretaker, by appellant and the T. and G. Mutual Life Society was adjourned sine die. Sine die adjournments - in other general appeals were: A. Hancock, truck driver, appeal by A. E. Clausen L. E. R. Radford, radio technician; H. S. Dorn, dairy farmer; G. A. Hart, farmer. A rehearing was grant ed to the Director of National Service in the appeal of H. L. Fry, district insurance manager by the Provident Life Assurance Co., Ltd., and a sine die adjournment was granted. The following reserved decisions were given: IV. T. Tillick, chief clerk, appeal by Palmerston North City Council, dismissed, not to be called up before May 31st; C. M. May, clerk, and J. E. Gavey, rate clerk, appeals by Palmerston North City Council, both dismissed, not to be called up before April 30th; N. C. Corry, accountant, appeal by Child Bros., dismissed, not to be called up before May 31st; J. H. Cheek, truck driver, appeal by Child Bros., adjourned till June sittings; L. J. Parsons, farmer, appeal by 8 Parsons; adjourned till May sittings, arrangements to be made to replace reservist; D. C. E. Dorn, farm manugcr, appeal by M. E. Dorn; adjourned till May sittings.
