TABLE FLAT

Miss Elliott was in the chair for the February meeting, extending a warm

welcome to visitors. Acknowledgements were received from soldiers who had received parcels packed by the W.L and Miss Elliott read an interesting letter from her brother, who has been on leave in Palestine. It was decided to carry on the electric light in the school, and the matter w r ill be discussed at a later date. The competitions arranged for next month are cream puffs, a thrift article, and six blooms. Members are reminded of their nominations for the annual meeting. Mrs. Stanley, of the Oroua Federation, extended greetings on her first official visit this year, urging members to carry on with meetings even though the attendance may not be so large. She then gave a very interesting talk on the “Canals of England” and a vote of thanks was passed to her at the conclusion. The competitions were judged by Mrs. Stanley, Mrs. Payton, Miss Nicholson and Mrs. McMurtrie and results were: — Nightdress: Miss R. Elliott 1, Miss E. Jensen 2, Mrs. A. F. McMurtrie 3; preserved plums: Mrs. D. Hogan 1, Miss R. Jensen 2, Mrs. 11. Jensen 3; best gladioli: Miss P. Hogan 1 and 2; Mrs. H. Jensen 3; bowl of dahlias: Mrs. H. Jensen 1 and 3; Mrs. A. F. McMurtrie 2; best dahlia: Mrs. D. Hogan 1,2, and 3; oat cakes (Mrs. Jensen’s prize): Mrs. McMurtrie, senr., I and 2, Mrs. H. Jensen 3. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. and Miss Elliott and the usual votes of thanks were passed.
