St. Andrew’s Social Guild
Mrs. M. AHchison was in the chair when members of St. Andrew’s Social Guild assembled yesterday for the first meeting: of the year. The schoolroom had been brightly decorated by Mrs. J. Galland with tall vases of gladioli, a bowl of larkspur and irises on the president’s table and bowls of hydrangeas on the stage. Extending a cordial welcome to members and friends, tho president offered a special welcome to Mrs. A. Boniface and her daughter, Mrs. J. Pritchard. She made sympathetic reference to the indisposition of Mrs. F. Sloman’s husband, the secretary (Mrs. C. Fraser) being asked to convey this by letter, and sympathy was also expressed with Mrs. Boyce, who is ill, with hopes for her speedy return to health. Assistance in servicing and stocking the patriotic shop the flrst week in April was solicited and an appeal made for assistance in serving afternoon tea for delegates attending the W.C.T.U. conference in the city in March. Hostesses welcoming members at the door were Mesdames J. Hubbard, J. Murray and D. Millar, the last-named later conveying thanks to the speaker and the performers. The speaker for the afternoon was Miss E. E. Stephens, who dealt with modern trends in education to stimulate the interest and sympathetic co-operation of parents. Further pleasure was given to the company by Mrs. J. Pritchard with vocal solos, accompanied by Mrs. It. Donald, and Miss L. Houlden with elocutionary items. The welcome cup of tea was served by members of the executive.
