Manpower Committee

The No. 6A Area Manpower Committee sat in Palmerston North on Tuesday. Mr. T. L. Seddon presided and with, him were Messrs J. C. Young and W. Sutherland. Mr. H. J. Worthington represented the Crown. Decisions were: The Director of National Service appealed for Iv. J. Mitchell, D. W. Dye, C. «f. Crosbie, J. C. Hawken, A. L. Rae, A. L. Lynch, all agricultural students. Mr. Worthington explained that the Defence Scientific Advisory Committee had selected these students to continue their studies at Massey College and wished to retain their services for national needs. It recommended a postponement of fulltime military service. All the applications were adjourned sine die. The Director of National Service also appealed for the following theological students at the Missionary College, Longburn: N. A. Hogg, R. P. Hann, R. 0. Griffen, E. J. Barker, R. J. Eraser, A. Maserley and T. R. Potts; the appeals were adjourned sine die. L. H. Hay, minister, was appealed for by the North New Zealand Conference of Seventh Day Adventists; adjourned sine die. H. W. Fisher, farm superintendent, appeal by Missionary College, Longburri; adjourned for a month. M. H. Bason, station electrician, L. E. Booth, senior linesman, I. G. Fraser operator fitter, J. W. Walker, assistant test engineer, and j. H. Badliam, electrician, ail employees of tho Public Works Department, were appealed for by the Director of National Service; all adjourned sine die.
