St John’s Anglican Church
In his annual report the vicar (Archdeacon Petrie) of St. John’s Anglican Church, Feilding, makes reference to the many members of the churcli who had joined the Forces and the effect this had on the church life in the parish. However, he pointed out, the church did not lose by this but gained since it had been proved by the increased interest that was being taken to-day in church affairs by those whom age and other considerations had been prevented from going overseas or giving some part of thoir time to war work in New Zealand. Financial support towards the maintenance of the church had been most encouraging and despite the absence of many members the offertories over the past year had 6hown an increase on those fqr the previous year. Attendances at all services had been well maintained anil all Sunday schools were flourishing. The Girls’ Club had taken a fresh lease of life and had a membership of 70, members contributing towards the provision of hospitality for Territorials in camp in Feilding. During the year Rev. W. L. Low, curate, was ordained to the priesthood and throughout he had worked hard and had proved himself to be a most loyal colleague. The report refers to the desire to liquidate the liabilities of the parish before the close of the year ending February 15, 1913. This objective is to mark the diamond jubilee of the church. The liabilities total £675 and with 600 church families iu the parish it is anticipated that the money will be forthcoming. The annual meeting is to be held next week at the Parish Hall.
