The executive of the Wellington Central Provincial W.D.P.U. met in Palmerston North on Monday, 20th inst., the chair being taken by the Provincial President, Mrs. J. A. Harris, of Turakina. Following the meeting a round table conference was held at which representatives from youth Hawke’s Bay and Wairarapa, also Mrs. C. K. Wilson, former Dominion president, were present. Various subjects were dealt with in the endeavour to assist women on the land in time of need. Soil erosion, protection of wild bird life, deforestation, gardening schemes, came up for discussion and a much debated subject brought forward was the excessive use of alcohol to-day by young people, all being most important problems in building for the future to assure national welfare.
