The bulk of the appeals were ou grounds of personal hardship or on behalf of reservists on *he grounds that they were engaged in essential work. There was a marked decrease in the appeals on the grounds of conscientious objectors. TOO MANY EXCEPTIONS? Per Press Association. DANNEVIRKE, April 20. The annual meeting of the Danne virke and District Returned Services’ Association carried unanimously the following resolution: “That this meeting deplores the number of appeals being made for exemption from service and requests the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association to place before the competent authority the desirability of appointing local representatives to the various appeal committees.
