DISTRICT’S CONFERENCE REPRESENTATIVE Mr. Diclc MacDonald, president of tho Ashhurst-Pohangina Racing Club, has been appointed to represent the Wanganui district clubs on tho New Zealand Racing Conference. The vacancy was caused by the death of Mr. H. J. D. MacMauaway. QUIET MORNING AT AWAPUNI Though Awapuni horses havo been j freely entered, for the Egmont meeting, 1 which opens on Saturday, there was little fast work at Awapuui yesterday morning. GALLOPS AT HAWERA Fast track conditions obtained at Ilawera on Saturday morning for continued preparations of Hawera horses to race this Saturday. Both the plough 1 and the course proper were used for the fast work, trestles on the latter being 40ft out. Most satisfactory gallops included efforts by Martene, Cotewayo, Night Ray, Greenock and Sir Flight. HUTT PARK TROTS Big acceptances were received by the * Wellington Trotting Club for its summer j meeting at Hutt Park on Saturday. The aggregate for the eight races is 152, making an average of 19 per race, which represents a record for the club. ! Meantime, with twenty-two horses off ; the limit in tho Woburn Handicap, and the same number off the front in the! Wainui Handicap, there is every prospect of these two races having to be divided. RICCARTON TRACK WORK The plough and the inside of the trial grass track were fast for Saturday's work at Riccarton, but the grass was i not used much (states the Press). Sally' Lunn and Force took 1.46 2-5, but 1 came home very slowly, after doing tho first half in 50.
