Celyton
(From Our Own Correspondent.) During tho past weeks, officers and n.c.os. of the Colyton unit of the Home Guard, have been attending the Central School of Instruction under Alajor Little, in Feilding. These lectures have afforded Home Guardsmen valuable instruction as well as interest, included among the lecturers being LieutenantColonel Davis, Alasscy College, whose
topic concerned modern warfare. At the invitation of his listeners, Lieut-enant-Colonel Dayis related the experiences of the N.Z.E.F. in the Cretan and Greek campaigns. Last Sunday afternoon the Patronai Festival of the Colyton Anglican Church was celebrated. The service was conducted by Yen. Archdeacon Petrie, ALA., assisted by Rev. W. L. Low, the preacher being Rev. Canon W. G. Williams, of Napier, who is in charge of Alaori w T ork in the North Island. The adult and junior choirs of St. John’s Church, Feilding, attended. There were floral decorations for the occasion. At the conclusion of the ser[vice the choir were tho guests of Air. [and Mrs. H. E. Hocken at Grassmere, who, following their yearly custom, provided afternoon tea to some 70 guests, the hostess being assisted by her daughter, Mrs. A. O. Simpson, and daughter-in-law, Airs. N. Hocken. The local school children are busy practising for the annual breaking-up concert and dance to be held on the eleventh of this month.
