FEILDING LIVE STOCK SALE
Keen Demand for Station Cattle BRIGHT TONE REFLECTED Held in fine, warm weather yesterday, the li\ r e stock sale at Feilding reflected a generally brighter tone, particularly in. the station cattle section where the market was very active. A comparatively large offering of cattle in good condition came before a large attendance, and bidding was bright and A'ery active throughout. Prices were fully firm on late rates, the best sale beiDg that of a line of 46 forward A.A. bullocks on account of Mr. A. B. Porter, of Halcombe, at £3l 6s. There was also a brighter tone in the fat sheep section where ewe mutton was dearer. In other departments prices were firm. Fat Sheep.
Compared with last week, mutton values registered a slight appreciation for the better quality sorts with ewes definitely commanding higher prices. Realisations included the following:— Fat ewes: 25 on account H. Port at 12& lOd; 37 account A. G. Collins at 14s Id; 19 account F. W. Mitchell at 32s lOd; 10 at 10s 7d; 23 account N. Bailey at 13s 4d and 18 at 12s lOd; 21 account Est. J. Ludemann at 13s Id and 12 at 13s lOd; eight at 12s 7d; 19 at 9s Id; five account N. W. Cooper at 12s 4d; two (wooly) at 159 lOd; 20 at 14s 7d.

Entries in the store sheep section were greater than last week, with prices unchanged on current quotations. The sales included the following: 120 2-th wethers at 17s 3d; 42 2-th wethers at 17s Id; 82 2-th wethers account Goldfinch Est. at 19s 6d; 131 2-th wethers account W. R. Davies at 16s 7d; 60 2-th wethers at 17s; 11 2-th wethers at 17s; 10 2-th wethers at 16s Id; 155 2-th ewes at 27s 2d; 15 b.f. wethers at 16& 4d; 14 b.f. wethers at 18s; 45 ewes with lambs at foot, 13s. Fat Cattle. Beef prices remained fairly steady with a good demand for station lines. The sales included the following: A single A.A. bullock at £l2 12s 6d; a pen of nine steers on account Simpson Bros, at £ll ss; two A.A. cows account ! W. G. Shannon at £8 17s 6d; nine A.A. heifers account O. A. Collis at £9 29 6d; four A.A. heifers at £9 7s 6d; 10 cows and heifers at £9 12s 6d; six cows account J. Waugh at £7 12s 6d; ex dairy cows at £4 7s fid, £4 12s 6d, £6 12s fid to £7 7s 6d; runners, £2 18s to £4: -vealers, £2 to £3. Station Cattle. A particularly bright market for station cattle was experienced by vendors who were able to dispose of practically every hoof under the hammer at rates fully firm on last week’s quotations. The main factor contributing to this situation is the abundance of cattle feed just now and graziers are finding it necessary to stock up with cattle to keep the feed in hand. The bidding was free and active and a very good sale resulted for all classes of cattle. The offering came forward in generally good condition and farmers’ lines sold strongly in competition with those offered on behalf of dealers. The realisations included the following: Yearling steers, 58 account J. Ridd and Son at £6 10s; 28 at £4 15s; 35 at £6 7s fid; 22 at £5 9s; 29 at £4 8s; 29 (Hereford) at £4 12s; 36 at £4 335; 24 at £6 Is; 13 at £5 10s; 24 at £5 12s. Grown cattle: 48 A.A. bullocks at £lO 19s; 60 A.A. bullocks account N. J. Short at £3O Is; eight Hereford bullocks, at £lO 16s; 46 forward A.A. bullocks account B. Porter at £ll 6s. Mixed ages: 20 A.A. steers at £7 4s; 26 ditto at £6 11s; six Hereford cross at £5 12s; 10 A.A. at £7 17s; 30 A.A. at £8 355; 34 A.A.-Hereford i cross at £7 15s; 22 A.A. at £7 17s; 20 A.A.-Hereford cross at £8 2s; 14 Hereford at £6 2s 6d; 20 A.A. heifers at £7 ss; 25 yearling A.A. heifer» at £5 10s. Generally prices for female cattle were very firm. Store Cattle. Competition was fairly active for the offering of boner cows and prices firmed up slightly for the heavier weights. The sales included the following: 27s fid, 30s, £2 2s fid, £2 ss, £2 7s, £2 15s, £2 17s 6d, £2 18s, £3, £3 6s, £3 7s, £3 10s, £3 12s fid, £4 31s, £4 14s to £5 15s; cows and calves, £5; empty heifers, £4 2s fid. Dairy Cattle. Prices were fully firm for the limited offering of dairy cattle, with realisations as follows; Spg. heifers, £5 10s, £8 5s to £10; spg. cows, £9 15s to £lO ss; heifers in milk, £6 15s to £ll ss; weauer Jersey heifers, £3, £3 10s, £4 2s fid to £4 ss; yearling Jersey heifers, £6 7s.
