Manawatu Federation Of Women’s Institutes
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE Mrs. T. D. Lynch (Linton) presided over a meeting of the executive committee of the Manawatu Federation of Women’s Institutes held in the Y.W.C.A. club room yesterday, also present being Mesdames W. M. McClelland (Kairanga), 11. N. McEwen (Tiakitahuna), T. Rowland (Karere), A. Poananga (Rangiotu), D. Scott (Aokautere), W. Churchill, H. V. Caverhill and T. E. Collins (Rongotea), also Miss M. Grant (Palmerston North).
Sympathetic reference was made to the serious illness suffered by Mrs. F. McKay, a valued member from Rongotea, who is an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital, with sincere wishes for her speedy return to health.
The Dominion secretary wrote conveying approval of service badges recommended recently. Miss K. Stocker, drama tutor, wrote with regard to the prospects of classes in March next, it being hoped to arrange for various groups.
Mrs. Caverhill presented the financial statement, donations being acknowledged from Rangiotu 10s, Whakarongo Bs. Newbury forwarded a donation of £1 for tho Crippled Children Society. Mrs. McClelland reported progress with the calendars which was most gratifying. A further supply had had to be ordered.
Mrs. Scott reported on plans for the floral festival the last Thursday in November, further details being arranged. Appreciation was expressed of tho ready co-operation of the Palmerston North Horticultural Society.
Members were later the guests of Mrs. Rowland (Karere) at afternoon tea at her home and enjoyed the opportunity of wandering in .hor beautiful garden.
