WEEKLY QUOTAS ATTAINED Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Nov. 5. To local committees and others Interested in the success of the National Savings movement the extent to which citizens generally are responding in the effort to ensure the attainment of the local weekly quotas is a source of much gratification. Since the inception of the quota system each succeeding week has seen an increasing number of towns achieving their goal. In some cases exceeding their weekly quota by a considerable amount. For this happy result the enthusiasm and interest displayed by the local committees themselves is responsible in no small measure.

Even at towns at which the weekly quotas have not been reached the ‘ • money ball ’’ indicating the extent of the response has risen high on the l’ost Office flagpole. With a growing realization of the significance of these symbols citizens generally are taking a keener interest in the National Savings movement and deriving pride in seeing that their town plays its allotted part in “saving to win the war.”

The latest information available covering the week ended November 1 shows that the following towns had attained their goal and earned the privilege of flying a special National Savings pennant as evidence of their success: Auckland district, Kaikohe, Matakana, Waipu, Wellsford; Blenheim district, Blenheim, l’icton, Rai Valley; Christchurch district, Akaroa, Amberley, Ashburton, Cust, Darfield, Kaikoura, Little Biver, Oxford, Waikari, Hawarden, Cneviot, Mayfield, Waiau, Culverden, Tinwald; Dunedin district, Balclutha, Cromwell, Heriot, Lawrence, Tahakopa, Tapanui, Waikouaiti; Gisborne district, Waimana; Hamilton district, Cambridge, Huntly, Matamata, Otorohanga, Botoraa, Te Anga, Tirau; Invercargill district, Tuatapere, Waikaia, Thornbury; Napier district, Napier, Norsewood; Nelson district, Nelson, Collingwood, Motueka, Takaka; New Plymouth district, New Plymouth, Awakino, Mokau, Eltham, Hawera, ivaponga, Manaia, Opunake, Urenui, Stratford; Palmerston North district, Palmerston North, Apiti, Dannevirke, Feilding, Glen Oroaa, Pahiatua, Pongaroa, Weber, Woodville; Thames district, Thames, Tauranga, Te Aroha, Turua, Waitoa, Whitianga; Timaru district, Timaru, Albury, Cave, Fairlie, St. Andrews, Temuka, W'aimate; Wanganui district, Wanganui, Aramoho, Hunterville, Marton, Ohakune Junction, Ohingaiti, Raetihi, Taihape; Wellington district, Wellington, Hnkanui.
