Final Peace Terms With Iran

Reported to Have Been Signed in Teheran BETWEEN IRAN, BRITAIN AND RUSSIA United Press Association-—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Tuesday, 7.30 p.m. NEW YORK, Sept. 2. The National Broadcasting Company of America’s Ankara correspondent says he has been reliably informed that the British, Russian and Iranian representatives signed the final peace terms in Teheran yesterday. The terms to bo offered by Britain and Russia to the Iran Government have not yet been made public, but information from. Simla indicates that they will be on these lines: Iran to grant facilities for the transit of all materials to Russia; Iranian troops to withdraw from certain areas in northern and south-western Iran, and these areas to bo temporarily occupied; Iran to be made forbidden territory for all Germans except the German Legation and a few technicians; payment of oil rovaltie's to Iran to continue, and the supply of food and other economic necessities to be facilitated by the Allies. It is also supposed that the terms will put on record the pledge repeatedly made by London and Moscow that Iran’s independence and sovereign rights will be respected and that the Allied troops will be withdrawn when the menace from German intrigues has been removed. A message from Simla states that there appears to have been some trouble with the Iranian Air Force at Teheran, the capital, over the cessation of hostilities. According to an unconfirmed report, some officers shot the head of the air force. It is known that two Iranian pilots took their machines off, declaring that they would , bomb Teheran if they were not allowed to continue the fight. Iranian anti-aircraft guns fired on the planes, but they apparently dropped some bombs.

At the same time the Iranians fired on Russian planes which came over the capital to drop leaflets, apparently under the impression that they were Iranian planes. As a result, the Russians concluded that the Iranians were continuing hostilities. It is thought that these incidents probably explain the declaration of martial law at Teheran. A Moscow message states that the Soviet troops in Tran have been ordered to make no further advance in view of 'the Russo-British-Iran negotiations.
