Prisoners Sentenced

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. S. Three prisoners came before Sir Michael Myers in the Supreme Court at Wellington to-day for sentence. * | Robert Freebairn, carpenter and labourer, aged 31, who pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court, Lower Hutt, on August 26 to a breach of the Chattels Transfer Act and to two charges of false pretences, was sentenced to four months’ imprisonment with hard labour on each charge, tho sentences to be cumulative. Tho prisoner had eight previous convictions. Edward Norman Connollj’, labourer, aged 30, on a charge of breaking, entering and theft in Wellington last month; was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment with - hard labour. He had eight previous convictions. Frank Wereta, aged 26, who had pleaded guilty to two charges of assault causing actual bodily harm in Palmerston North, one charge of breaking and entering with intent to commit a crime, and one charge of breaking and entering and theft, was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment with hard labour on each of the charges of breaking and entering and assault or a total of three -*ara. He had 12 previous convictions.
