Mr. Endean’s Candidature For Remuera Supported
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Sept. 2. A majority of 113 financial members of the National Party in the Remuera electorate replied “Y r es” to the following question put to them iii the postal baljot; “In view’ of the circumstances that have arisen regarding the candidature for the Remuera electorate, do you consider that Mr. W. P. Endean should be accepted as the party candidature at the forthcoming election?” A total of 2008 ballot papers was sent out and 1243 were returned. The result was 676 replies of “yes” to the question and 563 of “no.” There were four informal votes. The electorate committee has decided to meet the Leader of the Opposition (Mr. S. G. Holland) and the Dominion president of the party (Mr. A. Gordon) on Saturday evening when the position will be considered and future action decided upon. NATIONAL CANDIDATE FOR HURUNUI Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 2. Mr. S. G. Holland to-day confirmed the report that Mr. Alexander Cowie, of Hawarden/had been selected as the National Party candidate for the Hurunui electorate in succession to Rf. Hon. George Forbes. Some time ago Mr. Forbes announced that ho would not. be contesting the seat again if a suitable candidate were found.
