Benefit Concert For Home Guard
Rather inclement weather conditions in Feilding on Wednesday night failed to deter a good crowd supporting the concert organised to assist the finances of tho local Homo Guard and E.P.S. organisation. It is expected that the net proceeds will amount to about £3O. The programme was contributed to by local and visiting artists, including the Municipal Band, Misses A. Raynor, J. Fraser, N. Hausmann, M. Garrett, A. Taylor, Mesdames A. B. Farmer, L. M. Wotton, M. Pearse and Messrs J. Brown, A. B. Farmer, H. J. Dewe, A. Wright, J. L. and E. Fleetwood and C. He'll. Tho Mayor (Mr. Tr L. Seddon) expressed his thanks to the artists and the organisers of the programme, mentioning the help given by Mr. L. W. Penhey. Ho mentioned tiiat the capitation grant arranged by the GoA-ernment on tho basis of Is per man per quarter provided the guardsman had attended 75 per cent, or authorised parades, was quite inadequate for the needs of the organisation. The concert, ho said, had proved both enjoyable and profitable and all concerned were to be commended for the support given.
