The Kimbolton-Kiwitea Young Farmers’ Club draws attention to its annual dance to be held in the Iviwitea Hall on Tuesday next. All proceeds are in aid of the patriotic fund and particulars appear on this page. Members of the Feilding Ladies’ Golf Club will be in charge of the fortnightly patriotic shop in Feilding on Friday next. An appeal is made for contributions with which to stock the stall and donors may leave gifts at the shop at 9 a.m. on Friday’ morning. Parents and members of the committee of the Feilding Boy Scouts’ Association were present at an evening gathering in the kindergarten Sunday School, when Rev. W. J.. Low presided and a cup for competition amongst the Cubs was presented by r Airs. E. At. Stevens. At the Feilding Civic Club luncheon yesterday Air. C. E. Taylor, of Palmerston North, concluded his interesting description of his journey from Sweden via Russia and Turkey out to New Zealand shortly after the outbreak of war. His talk yesterday dealt with the journey from Aloscow to Odessa, thence via Turkey and Syria on to the Persian Gulf and on to India. The thanks of the club were expressed by Air. H. J. Dewe. The Lytton Street School Committee held a brief meeting on Monday night, when the headmaster (Mr. W. ily. Smith) reported that the roll stood at 305 and the daily attendance was satisfactory. The agricultural inspector (Air. Billborough) had paid a visit to the school. It was decided to supply mats requested for the infant department. Owing to the illness of the caretaker, Air. Alooney is carrying out the duties at present. The legal staff of Messrs. Graham and Reed met recently to bid farewell to Mr. R. J. Harper, who is severing his connection with the firm. Mr. L. Al. Giesen spoke on behalf of the statf and briefly outlined to them the period oi Mr. Harper’s 34 years’ connection with the firm, during which time he had served it well and honourably, and it was pointed out that his efforts over those years had not gone unnoticed. He wa3 presented with a silver cigarette box, suitably inscribed.
