Approximately 10 per cent, of the money promised by North Taranaki people to the patriotic appeal made over the radio on Anzac Night, has not yet, been paid in, it was stated at the meeting of the executive of the New Plymouth Patriotic Committee, when it was suggested that a special appeal should be made to those people to implement, their promises. The total amount promised over tho radio was £5043, of which £SOB 18s had not been accounted for to him on May 15, said the secretary, Mr. P. E. Stainton. It would mean a tremendous amount of work checking over the list and getting in touch with the people who had not paid. In fact, it would mean double checking, as ho understood that some of the people whose names appeared on the list as not having paid the amount promised had paid the amounts to the secretary of one of the carnival queen ■’s committee.
