NEW DEPUTY-GOVERNOR OF RESERVE BANK
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, May 22. Mr E. C. Fussell has been appointed deputy-Governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, according to an announcement by Mr W. Nash Mr Russell has been with the Reserve Bank since its inception, and for the major part of the time was secretary to the bank. Since April 1939 he has been assistant to the governors. Before coming to the Reserve Bank, Mr Fussell was secretary to the general manager of the National Bank. During the last few years he had extensive experience overseas, especially in connection with central banks of the world, including the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the Federal Reserve Banking System of the United States, the Central Bank of Canada, the Bank of England, and several European central banks. Mr Fussell, Mr Nash said, is a New Zealander, and is well fitted by his disposition and extensive technical experience, to hold the position to which he is now appointed.
